Grand opening of a snazzy online store

February 28, 2009

I’m happy to announce the Grand Opening of my CafePress shop, which features many of the cartoons that have filled the pages of Words and Toons. I’m calling the shop ToonUp Studios, and I’m busy adding new designs every day. There already are dozens of fun designs (including several pictured below) on T-shirts, greeting cards, magnets, stickers, mugs and more. To check out the shop, just click on this handy link: ToonUp Studios

The link is also now part of the Words and Toons sidebar, along with the links to my other stores. Thanks for giving them a look!

This cartoon is available at my online shops in delightful greeting card form, as are many of the cartoons found here on Words and Toons. See for yourself at my Greeting Card Universe shop, and my Zazzle shop. I regularly add my work to these shops, so if you like what you see, bookmark ’em and stop by from time to time!

Old-time photos = Greeting card fun

February 25, 2009

Not all of the greeting cards I make are cartoon cards. Using old-time photos is one of my favorite ways to create cards. Here are a couple of recent efforts:

The greatest 18 seconds of video in the history of humankind

February 24, 2009

This is why the Internet was invented:

It helps to be of a certain age to appreciate this clip. You couldn’t ask for a better representative of Eric Carmen’s overwrought anthem from the mid-1970s than this angst-ridden elf.

Favorite moments from this year’s Oscars

February 23, 2009

* When Angelina Jolie adopted the cast of “Slumdog Millionaire.”

* The couple of times they interrupted the 4-hour song-and-dance marathon to present a movie award.

* When they had to bleep Christian Bale’s presentation of the sound editing award because Meryl Streep made the mistake of getting in Bale’s eye line.

* When Jerry Lewis, as he was handed his honorary award, said: “Nice laaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy-dy!”

* When Mickey Rourke had Marisa Tomei remove the unused acceptance speech he had stapled to his face.

* Whenever they showed a closeup of Amy Adams. (That one is not a joke.)
